Sculpting the sensibilities.
Magdalena Dloniak’s sculptural practice centres on the emotional and symbolic resonance of the human figure. Beginning with observation from live models, her process gradually shifts inward, transforming physical likeness into an intuitive exploration of vulnerability, memory, and psychological presence. Working primarily in clay and plaster, Dloniak approaches sculpture as both excavation and conversation, allowing forms to emerge instinctively through shifting emotional states. Fragility becomes central to the work, with delicate surfaces and restrained gestures carrying an intense sense of interiority. In her sculptures, the serene white plaster figure evokes both classical portraiture and contemporary stillness, suspended between innocence, contemplation, and quiet emotional openness.
